Data Driven Sustainability:

Accelerating ESG Impact for ASEAN

   This Year's Theme
Data Driven Sustainability: Accelerating ESG Impact for ASEAN

Covid-19 has disrupted the entire world. In the past 2 years, extreme poverty has risen, gender inequality has increased and we are not on track to a 1.5 ºC goal. As the world moves beyond Covid-19 to an endemic phase, demand for positive ESG behavior is stronger than ever, and inaction can be costly. It is imperative for ASEAN businesses to reimagine and adapt their strategies, structures and processes to future-proof themselves against inevitable sustainability risks, and to tap into the opportunities of a USD 1 trillion green economy for the region.

Big data is expected to play a pivotal role in sustainable development in the public and private sphere. It is the lifeblood of decision-making and the raw material for accountability. Today, the collection and analysis of data is commonplace among businesses (especially large entities), with consumer profiling, personalized services, demand forecasting, and fraud detection being used for marketing and management decisions. However, the availability and accessibility of sustainability-related data remains scarce among ASEAN businesses; and for some companies, despite having large amounts of ESG-linked data, its value is still not derived to its fullest. This situation needs to be improved.

As the world embarks on an ambitious project to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), there is an urgent need to mobilize the data revolution among the private sector, which represent major players in our society. If managed properly, data can enable more effective, timely, and evidence-based decision-making to address ASEAN’s largest sustainability challenges while ensuring economic prosperity.

This year’s GO ESG ASEAN 2022 summit aims to highlight the key role of ESG data in accelerating ASEAN’s sustainability agenda. The summit will convene public/private sector actors of various backgrounds including C-Suites, investors, rating providers, research experts, and regulators to discuss and debate on the topic of ESG data capture, measuring, analysis, presentation, and sharing for better decision making and attainment of organizational objectives, as well as sustainability big data strategies to strengthen public-private partnerships to accelerate the SDGs.

The 1 day conference plenaries and the exhibition will focus on achieving the following objectives :
